Brief Summary of Background and Congressional Policies of Nicholas “Nick” Dibs 37th Congressional District Independent candidate - A “native son” born and raised in Long Beach, California
- Attended elementary, Hamilton Junior High and Jordan High School in Long Beach for several years
- Selected to represent Pacifica High School at The Presidential Classroom For Young American (www.PresidentialClassroom.org) and graduated with several awards and honors
- Selected to received the “1991 President’s Associates Human Service Award For Outstanding Community Service Leadership” – a special annual award recognizing the achievements of one student from among those attending California State University, Long Beach
- Earned a BA degree (1991), Teaching Credential (1992) from CSULB
- Water resources education and public information services for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), State Water Project (July 1996 - September 2004)
- Teacher/Educator experience working from 1992 to present, includes approximately 15 years with the Long Beach Unified School District and other districts in a variety of schools and assignments.
As a Member of Congress, I will vote for and support/advocate: - “Common sense” moderate approach to solving our nation’s, as well as constituents’, important problems, issues and concerns
- Economic growth with increasing number of skilled jobs

- Education accountability and Federal grants to increase funding for all public schools to lower class sizes to 20 or less and provide an instructional assistant/aide for each teacher

- Scrap NAFTA and other unfair trade policies causing unemployment

- Balance the Federal Budget and cut unneeded, wasteful spending
- Health care basic coverage for those facing crisis/severe hardship
- End unfair and unjust economic, trade and foreign policies
- “Sunset clause” to provide Congressional periodic and effective assessment and oversight of each law
- Will fight to defend our U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights
